The major cooperating institutions and agencies
that – as affiliates and sites of student rotation – enhance and enrich the student experience in the Aria Health School of Nursing program are:

The Pennsylvania State University
All courses taught by The Pennsylvania State University are conducted at the School of Nursing. The nursing student on a term basis earns credits in the sciences, social and behavioral studies, mathematics, communication skills, arts, humanities.

The courses provide the student with the necessary background and knowledge for the practice of nursing. The courses taught by Penn State instructors facilitate student participation in the education mainstream by providing a broader academic environment and the opportunity to transition into the Aria Health/Penn State Collaborative RN-BS Program.

Aria Health - Frankford, Torresdale and Bucks County Campuses
Aria Health is a not-for-profit community, healthcare system that offers modern teaching hospitals and outpatient facilities – in Northeast Philadelphia, at its Frankford and Torresdale campuses and at its growing Bucks County Campus, as well as off-site patient-care locations. Aria Health provides students with a variety of clinical experiences throughout the curriculum.

The three campuses of Aria Health are utilized, in conjunction with other agencies, on all three educational levels with the School of Nursing. The following services are available: Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Emergency, Critical Care, Gynecology, Oncology, Open Heart, Psychiatric Services, and Orthopedics, in addition to a variety of outpatient clinics and services.

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital offers the student opportunity to participate in the interdisciplinary care of individuals after stroke, amputation, spinal cord injury and brain injury.

VITAS Hospice
A the VITAS inpatient hospice unit within Aria Health - Frankford campus, students are exposed to and care for clients during their last few months of life. Exposure to palliative, not curative care, that focuses on enhancing a patient's comfort and overall quality of life is provided.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
This world-renowned pediatric hospital offers experience in the care of infants and children for students in the our school's N211 course.  At CHOP, students get exposure to the highest level pediatric care.

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children
Students in the N211 course use this teaching facility for experience in the care of infants and children.  St. Chris' is a respected center for pediatric expertise, located in an urban environment and affiliated with Drexel University College of Medicine.

Friends Hospital
Students in our school's N211 course take advantage of this facility to learn about managing inpatients and outpatients with mental health needs. Friend's Hospital offers a unique philosophy of treatment and exposure to a variety of treatment modalities.

Holy Redeemer Hospital & Medical Center
Holy Redeemer is a respected, suburban, community hospital, where our students benefit from exposure to the full range of community health needs. 

Community Health Agencies
Community agencies provide valuable learning experiences for Aria's nursing students, who are given the opportunity to observe and evaluate selected services provided within the community to assess well individuals/ groups and populations at risk. Home visits are incorporated into clinical experiences under the supervision of a community nursing instructor. The students have the opportunity to perform family assessments, assess home safety, physical health histories, and technical skills, and participate in health promotion and maintenance activities. In addition, the students can see the impact of family, community, and culture on the client's health beliefs and care.

  • Professional Home Health Services:
    A Home Health Agency of Aria Health located in the Northeast, which provides services to patients in the home environment.
  • Health Education Center Lankenau Health Education Center:
    A health facility that provides learning opportunities for youth groups in health and wellness topics.
  • SPIN:
    Special People in the Northeast (SPIN) is a day care center located in Northeast Philadelphia that provides special care for children. While at the center, students observe growth and development, communicate with children, and learn age-appropriate approaches to health and safety education programs with the children and their families
  • School District of Philadelphia:
    Students partner with a school nurse and see the role of the nurse in the school and in the community.
  • Senior Citizens Centers
    Students provide blood pressure screenings, health education programs and informal teaching sessions for seniors at these two centers in Philadelphia.
