Make a difference in the lives of people right in your own neighborhood... apply today!

Have you been looking for an opportunity to give something back to your community and gain personal enrichment at the same time? Nearly 200+ people from the Northeast Philadelphia and Bucks County areas fulfill this same desire each week by volunteering their time!

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping the Hospitals to achieve its mission of providing quality service and exceptional care to their community members. Volunteers at Jefferson Bucks, Frankford, and Torresdale Hospitals assist staff members in providing services to patients and visitors which otherwise might not be available.

The Volunteer Services Department offers two service programs, one for students and one for adults. Each offers a unique opportunity to enrich your life experience while assisting others. We realize that volunteering is a commitment of your time and is a decision that takes careful consideration. To help you learn more about volunteer opportunities at one of our hospital locations we've developed the following list of frequently asked questions regarding our volunteer duties and positions.

How much time will I spend?

The volunteer service requirement is to work four hours, one day a week. However, you may also work more than one day a week, if you like. Many volunteer assignments are flexible, and we make every effort to accomodate your schedule by offering day, and when appropriate, evening and weekend hours.

What will I actually do for the Hospital?

There are many choices of assignments open to you. Volunteers are needed to assist in patient service areas, delivering newspapers, magazines and books, and servicing as Hospitality Ambassadors, offering snacks and beverages from a cart to our patients and guest. Several assignments help the different nursing staffs with tasks and you may be assigned to assisting the staff in our Emergency Department. There are also opportunities open to you in many non-patient areas, such as Food Services, different departmental offices as well as within the Volunteer Services Department.

If you are a great "people-person", you can be assigned to one of our information/concierge desks, assisting visitors with directions and hospital informational brochures or at one of our "Way Finding" stations.

Will volunteering cost me anything?

No. Our volunteers are required to wear an identifying smock which is supplied to you when you begin your service. This smock becomes your personal property. Your personal transportation to and from the hospital is your own expense.

What will I receive in return?

The satisfaction of helping others and knowing that you will make a difference! Our Hospital staff and patients appreciate the value of the gift of you and the tasks you provide. Our appreciation is expressed in many ways, including:

  • Free parking
  • Wellness Center Privileges
  • Task Specific Training
  • Cafeteria (Meal) Vouchers
  • Annual Recognition Dinner
  • Hospital Holiday Luncheon
  • Hospital Summer Picnic

How do I apply for a volunteer position?
