Grant for Aria Health-Torresdale

Funds help construct the new Emergency Department and

parking garage at Aria’s Torresdale Campus.

State Senators Mike Stack and Robert Tomlinson presented $3 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funds to Aria Health on Wednesday.  The funds will be used to construct a new Emergency Department and parking garage at Aria’s Torresdale Campus.

“Aria Health is proud to serve our neighbors in Northeast Philadelphia and Bucks County,” said Kathleen Kinslow, CRNA, EdD, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer, Aria Health.  “And thanks to Senators Stack and Tomlinson, who are true advocates for our neighborhood and for Aria Health, we can better meet the needs of our patients for many years to come.”

The $37 million Emergency Department construction project is expected to be complete by March 2014.  This will expand current capacity from 30 to 42 beds, while also helping streamline patient evaluation and treatment, meeting both minor and major emergency care needs effectively and efficiently.

“In addition to the quality of care, this project will create jobs”, said Stack.  “Aria expects to create 200 new jobs as a result of the emergency department expansion, and that’s in addition to the 1,500 jobs they already supply at Aria-Torresdale, and 4,000 jobs they have created on their Northeast Philadelphia and Bucks County campuses.”

RACP funds were also used to construct the new parking garage at the Torresdale Campus.  This $9 million project, completed last July, increased the total parking capacity by 25% by adding nearly 400 spaces.
