Aria Health - Bucks County & MossRehab Announce Opening of New Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
Joint Commission and CARF-Accredited Unit to treat estimated 250 patients annually
July 23, 2009 – Langhorne, PA – Aria Health–Bucks County and MossRehab announce the opening of a 12-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit located on the third floor of its Oxford Valley hospital location. The unit will be staffed by physicians, physical therapists and other clinical staff from MossRehab, one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation hospitals and part of the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. The new MossRehab unit at Aria Health-Bucks County will provide a full continuum of care for orthopaedic and neurologic patients, particularly those in Aria’s Bucks County and Torresdale service areas.
MossRehab is accredited by both The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The MossRehab clinical team is well known for treating patients with brain and spinal cord injury, stroke and neurological diseases, amputation and hand trauma, musculoskeletal disorders and orthopaedic and sports-related injuries. For the 16th year, MossRehab has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation facilities in the 2009-2010 U.S. News & World Report magazine survey of “America’s Best Hospitals.”
The new inpatient rehabilitation unit in Bucks County is the most recent development in Aria Health and MossRehab’s longstanding clinical relationship. In 1999, a 12-bed MossRehab Unit opened at Aria Health’s Frankford Campus in Northeast Philadelphia. Since that time, the unit has demonstrated excellent outcomes with functional gains, favorable rates of discharge to the community, and patient satisfaction scores that significantly exceed regional and national averages.
“We are pleased to expand our relationship with Aria Health, and we appreciate the opportunity to give patients in Bucks County access to the latest treatments and most effective care for complex physical rehabilitation needs,” said Ruth Lefton, Chief Operating Officer of MossRehab.
Lefton’s sentiments are echoed by Carole Medoff, Vice President, Aria Health. “We are confident that the expansion of our clinical partnership with MossRehab will allow Aria to provide comprehensive, seamless and convenient care for Bucks County patients who require inpatient rehabilitation services,” she said.
Aria’s projections reveal that the new MossRehab Unit at the Bucks County Campus will admit more than 250 patients annually for treatment of conditions related to stroke, amputation, spinal cord dysfunction, debility and orthopedic disorders.
