Entrance Requirements

ATI TEAS V entrance exam required for ALL applicants, in addition to the requirements listed below. Applicants must have at least a 60.0% "Adjusted Individual Total Score" to be considered for acceptance. The TEAS Exam may only be taken twice. Additional attempts will not be evaluated for acceptance.


Recent High School Graduates (within 5 years) may apply directly to the school of nursing by completing:

  • High School Chemistry Course (w/lab, grade "C" or above)
  • SAT Test scoring a MINIMUM of 1350 (1400-1500 preferred)
    * (If you did not take the SAT Test while in high school, or if you did not score above the required minimum, or achieve the required GPA, you may apply after meeting ALL of the admissions criteria below.)

High School Graduates, (more than 5 years), or those with SAT's below 1350, GED recipients, and Transfer Students without a degree; may ONLY apply to the AHSN after completing the following courses at an accredited community college or university.

 Introduction to Chemistry (4 credits)
 Anatomy and Physiology I (4 credits)
 Anatomy and Physiology II (4 credits)

* MINIMUM Cumulative GPA of 2.85 or above for all required coursework (3.0 or above preferred)
* Sciences must be taken within 5 years of entrance date. Humanities must be taken within 10 years to receive credit. 
(No credit will be issued for classes with a grade below a "C".)

Transfer Students with an Associates Degree or Above:

  • College Chemistry must be completed within the past 5 years (grade of "C" or above)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.85 or above for all coursework (3.0 or above preferred)

LPN's with the academic coursework listed above from an accredited college with a MINIMUM cumulative GPA of 2.85 or above:

  • Applicant Must have a valid LPN license and be in Good Standing w/State Board of Nursing (minimum of 1 year)
  • Applicant Must pass the NACE Exam with a minimum score of 78% after being accepted into the program to receive Advanced Standing (credit for Nursing 110 module) 

AHSN does not accept application fee waivers. The application fee of $100 is non-refundable. All applicants must submit PA State, FBI, and Child Abuse background checks as part of the Application process regardless of State of Residence.
