Professional Nurse Recognition Program recipients for January 2008

 

Kim Aliberto, RNC, a staff nurse on 3A at the Torresdale Campus, has achieved Level III PNRP designation. Kim serves as a preceptor and resource for new staff members. She represents her unit on the Resource and Professional Development Council by attending monthly meetings and updating her peers on new information. Congratulations, Kim.

Erin Dugan, RNC, BSN is a staff nurse on the 4B unit at the Torresdale Campus and was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She serves as a preceptor to new staff, is a member of the performance improvement council and the wound care committee, and presented a poster on continuous bladder irrigation.

Cecilia Fox, RN, C, BSN is a staff nurse in the observation unit at the Torresdale Campus, and has been awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She attained this award by completing three projects.  The first of which was community based on the topic of meningitis.  The second, also community based focused on the importance of maintaining a healthy BMI in preventing childhood obesity.  For her third project Cecilia took part in the hand washing task force.

Sandra Gallina, RNC, a staff nurse on 2B at the Torresdale campus, has been awarded Level III PNRP for the fourth consecutive year. Sandy presented a case study at the Nursing Grand Rounds in May 2007. She also presented the topic “Orthopedic Complications” at Ortho Day. Sandy is also a member of the PNRP Committee attending quarterly meetings for application review. Congratulations, Sandy.

Agnes Garden, RN, CCRN is a staff nurse in the ICU at the Frankford Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She serves as a preceptor to new staff members, is a member of the ventilator acquired pneumonia task force, and educated the community on the importance of maintaining a healthy weight.

Janice J. Gibson, RN, CCRN is a staff nurse on the Endoscopy Procedures Unit at the Torresdale Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She serves as a preceptor by mentoring new nurses on endoscopy procedures, and is a member of the staff education committee.  Janice developed a poster presentation on pre-operative procedures.

Stacie Hill, RN, C is a staff nurse on the 4 West unit at the Frankford Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  Stacie serves as a preceptor on her unit.  She developed a poster presentation on the safe administration of Patient Controlled Analgesia and on intravenous Cardizem.

Jeannine Keenan, RN, BSN, CCRN has renewed her Level IV PNRP status for 2008. As a staff nurse in the Frankford Campus ICU, Jeannine serves as a preceptor for new staff members. She also is her unit’s representative on the Nurse Excellence Committee, participating in several community service projects. Jeannine presented “Portion Control” at the annual community fair to help decrease the rate of obesity. Congratulations, Jeannine.

Mary Jo Marino-Hertzog, RN, CAPA is a staff nurse on the endoscopy procedures unit at the Torressdale Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She is the new co-chair of the resource and professional development council; she also serves as a nurse champion and as a preceptor to new staff.

Christine McPeak, RN, BSN, OCN is a staff nurse on the observation unit at the Torresdale Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She is a member of the hand washing committee.  Christine is collecting data for a research project to help decrease the incidence of patient falls.  She also developed a poster presentation for the community fair on the topic of cold and flu prevention.

Jennifer Moyer, RN, BSN, BC, a staff nurse on 2 North at the Bucks Campus, is a first time applicant to the PNRP and has been awarded Level II designation. Jennifer is co-chair of the MRSA Task Force and also created a poster on MRSA that she presented at the annual community fair. Jennifer serves as a preceptor and resource to new staff members. Way to go, Jennifer.

Lori Reardon, RN, CCRN is a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)  at the Torresdale Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program. She serves as a preceptor to new nurses and was the captain in the Dragon Boat Festival which raises donations for charity.  She participated in the committee formed to attain the Beacon Award which represents excellence in ICU nursing.

Cynthia Rizzo, RN, BSN, CCRN, a staff nurse in Torresdale’s ICU, has achieved Level IV PNRP for the fourth consecutive year. Cindy serves as co-chair of the Resource and Professional Development Council and is also an active member of the Coordinating Council. Cindy is a member of the Beacon Committee and also developed the “All About Me” project which encourages family members to participate in the patient’s care. Good work, Cindy.

Bonnie Roberts, RN, BSN, CEN, a staff nurse in the ER at Torresdale, has achieved Level IV PNRP status. Bonnie created an educational poster for the ER staff explaining STEMI alerts. She is also a member of the Trauma Education Committee who helped to improve documentation on the trauma flow sheet. Bonnie is a member of the Family Presence of Resuscitation Committee and has conducted a literature review on this subject. She participated in the annual community fair, promoting fire safety to community members. Nice work, Bonnie.

Connie Romano, RN, BSN, CEN, TNCC, ENPC, an ER nurse at Torresdale, has once again been awarded Level IV PNRP recognition. Connie is a presenter at the Triage Course who created a PowerPoint presentation on chest pain. Connie is also a second year member of the hospital’s Hazardous Materials Response and Decontamination Team.  She develops and updates patient education materials for the ER and has reviewed and revised several ER policies. Connie also performs peer review on trauma charts to ensure high quality patient care as regulated by the Pennsylvania Trauma Foundation. Nice job, Connie.

Ross, RN, OCN is a staff nurse on the obervation unit at the Torresdale Campus, she was awarded level III recognition in the Professional Nurse Recognition Program.  She is a member of the staff development committee, collects data used in research to help decrease the incidence of patient falls, and developed a poster on cold and flu presented at the community fair.

Gita Sampat, RN, CNOR has achieved Level III PNRP designation. Gita is a staff nurse in the operating room at the Bucks Campus. Gita participated in a community health fair for the BAPS Temple in Levittown. She also presented the topic “Music During Surgery” at an AORN chapter meeting. Gita participated in the annual community fair by presenting a poster on ERCP. Keep up the good work, Gita.

Susan Satffieri, RNC, the Lead RN on 1 South at the Bucks Campus, has been awarded Level III PNRP designation. Sue presented a poster to her coworkers detailing how to thoroughly complete admission paperwork. She also serves as a preceptor and resource to new staff members. Sue participated in the annual community fair be setting up a diabetic healthy snack table which included homemade snacks and recipes. Congratulations, Sue.

Kelly Sheaf, RN, a staff nurse on 1 South at the Bucks Campus, has renewed her Level II PNRP status. Kelly presented a domestic violence poster at the annual community fair. She is also a preceptor for new staff members. Kelly is an active member of the Resource and Professional Development Council who updates her coworkers on council happenings. Good work, Kelly.
