Remembering Lisa Davish, RN, Co-worker and Friend
Contributed by: Lisa Rufe, RN, 3B, Torresdale Campus
Lisa Davish was born on May 9, 1965 and raised in Newtown, Bucks County. Through her school years Lisa attended Bucks County Community and received her Associate's Degree at Penn State University. Upon graduation she completed her nursing degree at the Aria School of Nursing. Through her college years Lisa worked as a unit clerk at Aria and then started working on 3B at the Torresdale Campus as an RN in 1998. Lisa was an outstanding oncology patient herself.
Lisa was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August of 2004 and battled the disease for over three years. She received many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Despite her courageous fight, the cancer metastasized. She lost her fight on October 11, 2006 and memories of Lisa will last forever.
I decided from that day on I needed to do something to show how missed she was. Lisa made so many of us smile and laugh. She was a beautiful person who always thought of others before herself. I took an old equipment room on 3B and decided to turn it into a place where families and patients could sit, visit, and escape for a little while from all their problems. I wanted there to be a sense of tranquility in the room that Lisa brought to so many of her patients. With her picture in the room it's just like she is still here with us. I miss my friend very much and am comforted by all the good memories that Lisa leaves behind!
