“Kate’s Way” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk
Draws Hundreds to the Streets of Mayfair
Thousands of dollars raised to support the Aria Health Breast Evaluation Center and Support Programs.
Nearly 400 people participated in the annual “Kate’s Way” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, May 7. Hosted by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) Division 39, the event was held at the John Perzel Community Center in Mayfair. All proceeds from the event benefited local breast cancer research and treatment centers, including Aria’s Breast Health Program.
For nearly five years, Kathleen (Kate) Palchick (pictured left) was a patient at the Aria Health Cancer Center as she courageously battled breast cancer before losing her fight in September 2006. During this time Kate, along with her family and friends at LAOH Division 39, founded the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, which has raised nearly $100,000 since it was first held in May 2006.
