Trauma and Emergency Care
Staffed by career emergency medicine physicians and nurses, the Emergency Department at Aria Health-Torresdale is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is equipped to treat all illnesses and injuries, both minor and serious.
As a designated Level 2 Regional Resource Trauma Center, regional patients with the most serious injuries are brought to Aria Health-Torresdale by local emergency medical squads.
Torresdale Campus Improvements Continue
Beginning Friday, February 22, 2013, at 12:01 a.m. (Thursday night into Friday morning), the Emergency Department at Aria Health-Torresdale will temporarily relocate to the first floor, with the entrance located on the Red Lion Road side of the building. The current site will close in preparation for the new Emergency Department that will open in summer 2014. The temporary site will be accessed via the Knights Road entrance of the campus located closest to Red Lion Road, adjacent to the Medical Office Building entrance.
During this time, patients should expect to receive the same high quality, compassionate care, as there will be no disruption in service due to this temporary site relocation.
The $37 million construction project will expand the current Emergency Department’s capacity from 30 to 42 beds. It will also create two separate entrances – one for walk-in patients, and one for patients arriving via ambulance. This will enable the Emergency Department staff to rapidly address the unique needs of all patients. Other additions include a separate waiting area for patients and their families awaiting test results, a new CT scanner, and two additional radiology rooms. As part of the project, the Outpatient Center at the Torresdale Campus will also be renovated.
