Richard A. Balderston, MD, provides customized surgical and non-surgical treatment for patients with spine and disc injuries.
With 30 years experience and over 5,000 procedures performed, Dr. Balderston is a national leader in spine research and treatment, and is experienced in the latest treatments for numerous spine-related injuries and diseases, helping patients both eliminate chronic pain and regain freedom of movement.
A pioneer in the treatment of degenerative disc disease, Dr. Balderston is dedicated to improving the lives of patients afflicted with this condition. His research helped lead to the development of total disc replacement, one of the most advanced treatments available for this disease.
Dr. Baldertson received his undergraduate degree from Yale University, in New Haven, CT, and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and a fellowship in spinal deformity at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Balderston is co-author of four medical textbooks and is an international researcher and surgical instructor for lumbar disc replacement. In addition, he has been recognized as a “Best Doctor in America” and a “Top Doctor” in Philadelphia by his peers and received numerous professional awards and recognition.
